180/180 is a multi-agency initiative in Santa Cruz County, CA to help 180 homeless men, women and families turn their lives around. They’ve adopted the national 100,000 Homes Campaign methodology and have a goal to house 180 of our most vulnerable, chronically homeless neighbors by July 2014. They move them into permanent housing with the support services they need to stay housed, thereby changing lives and improving our community.

Lydia came onto Artists on Art to tell us about the newest season, the dramatic story of Shakespeare Play, and the future of this beloved festival.

There are some changes. Marco Baricelli & Mike Ryan are co-artistic Director. There is a re-organized Board with some former Directors and some new as well as an Advisory Board. Some things have stayed the same such as the plays taking place on the UCSC Campus in the beautiful Glen

Shakespeare Play On produces the Santa Cruz Shakespeare Festival. This summer’s season runs June 1-August 10, 2014 and features As You Like It, The Merry Wives of Windsor and The Beard of Avon.

Vlada Jakubikova & Muthu of Regular Line Santa Cruz

Vlada Jakubikova & Muthu of Regular Line Santa Cruz an artists’ residency and exhibition program, , came onto KZSC’s Artists on Art, to talk about the Slovak artists that are invading Santa Cruz and the many events happening.

The Slovak Artist will be here and the residency takes place from July 3-20. Two main events are in place – an art exhibition at Apricity gallery in Tannery Arts Center and Santa Cruz Fringe Festival. We are also doing music workshops for kids at SC public library and Camp Tannery Arts.

There was a promo event at the ArtBar at the Tannery on July 5th at 4pm.

The grand Opening Reception at the Apricity Gallery is Friday July 18, 5pm – 9pp at the Tannery Arts Center, 1060 River Street, Studio #104, Santa Cruz, CA 95060. Opening hours are 12-6pm during July 20, July 24-27, July 31, August 2-3 & 12-9pm on August 1st.

Two of the Artists, Zuzana Zabkova & Fero Kiraly, are also participating in the Fringe Festival. The Kick-off event is Thursday July 10 from 6:30-7pm.
