Sylvanna Falcon, Daniel Wirls, and Nada Miljkovic on KZSC’s Talkabout News and Call-in Show
On July 20, 2016, I had the pleasure of subbing KZSC’s Talkabout with, Sylvanna Falcon, Associate Professor in the Latin American and Latino/a Studies Department. We decided to do a show about the Republican National Convention after, Professor of Politics, Daniel Wirls, agreed to come on the show. Both Sylvanna and Daniel are UCSC Professors and have offices near one another in Merrill.
The show went really well. Sylvanna had an excellent list of questions that Daniel answered fully and eloquently. We had quite a number of call-ins from the community with great questions.
The conversation started with a reflection on the RNC, particularly the rhetoric and tone, then segued to military spending and ending with the qualifications to look for in a president-elect.
I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that Daniel will be participating in a UCSC Institute of Humanities Research event this fall, just before the election, on Anger in Politics: From the Bard to the Donald (with Sean Keilen and Debbie Gould). This is a subject I know I’ll be needing some help with.
