Art Activist, Curator and Creator, Kirby Scudder is a driving force behind much of the art happenings in Santa Cruz. He is the co-director and co-founder of the Santa Cruz Institute of Contemporary Arts, producer of KUSP’s Art Studio and the Santa Cruz Sentinel’s Arts column and Artist Profile.
Kirby Scudder came onto Artist on Art, September 17, 2013, to talk about the publication of his new book, The Cruz. He will be book signing and giving a talk at the Bookshop Santa Cruz September 24th at 7pm.

In 2003, Chip and Kirby co-founded the of the Santa Cruz Institute of Contemporary Arts in 2004. From their multi-location Question Galleries and Question Art Tour, they quickly realized that the Santa Cruz Artists were in great need of places to show their work. Also along with Chip, Kirby is the co-founder of First Fridays Santa Cruz.
Kirby has opened 8 galleries, exhibited over 1500 artists, produced cultural events, television and radio shows, and served as a mentor to many established and emerging artists throughout Santa Cruz County.
