May 14, 2014, I had the pleasure to meet with four local filmmakers, Chris McGilvray, Doug Farrris, Eric Ressler and Matt Steele to talk about the Santa Cruz Film Festival presentation, The Locals. This event featured six local filmmaking teams that each had 15 minutes to discuss their work and filmmaking. The event took place at the Nickelodeon Theatre on May 15th. The hope is to do a quarterly event for the Santa Cruz Film Festival where we turn the spotlight to the talented pool of local filmmakers.
Doug Farris is a Director/Producer at Ghost Hand Films and Founder of Ghost Hand Productions. Based in Santa Cruz, Ghost Hand Productions has grown from its post-production beginnings to become a full service production company. Ghost Hand now operates three video editing suites, an audio post-production suite, recording studios and rehearsal spaces, all within blocks of the Pacific Ocean in Santa Cruz’s beautiful Westside.
Matt Steele and Eric Ressler are self described design geeks interested in cutting-edge technology, and describe themselves as designers, storytellers and strategists. Their company,Cosmic, creates smart brand experiences for the digital world and beyond. If it’s experimental & innovative, they want to check it out.
