Davis Banta – 5/31/11

Multi-media radio, video and theater artist, Davis Banta, came on to the KZSC show for May 31, 2011 to talk about his upcoming theatrical performance entitled “The Drama Hour & Friends! A Not-So Old Timey Variety Show” happening Friday, June 17 · 8:00pm – 10:00pm at the Broadway Playhouse, at 526 Broadway St., Santa Cruz, CA.

This production was created collaboratively with Davis, Banant Canant, and Madeline Bills

Master of Ceremonies Scott Kravitz will introduce the acts and offer his patented Kravitzisms!

This show will feature the talents of:
*The Drama Hour, of course!
*You Had To Be There improv and sketch comedy!
*”Monogalogue” — a solo performance by Spotlife veteran Rick Kuhn.
*Nationally touring comedian and award-winning writer, Erikka Innes.

All while the funky fury that is our house band, Fire Hazard keeps the beat!

Tickets are $10 at the door, also available at Brown Paper Tickets.

Christine Silver & Sienne Hayes Guests for 2/1/11

Local Santa Cruz Actress, Christine Silver, and, local dancer and Santa Cruz Women’s Health Center Executive Assistant, Sienne Hayes, came onto the KZSC Artists on Art show to talk about the upcoming fundraiser theatrical event, Vagina Monologues.

This is a local community production of the Oboe Award winning play is directed by Glenys Davidson for her fourth production in a row. Come out and see your friends and family shine as vagina superstars. Proceeds benefit the Santa Cruz Women’s Health Center and 10% will be donated to the women and children of Haiti.

Saturday, February 12 at 8:00-10:00pm at the Rio Theater.

Brian Spencer Guest for 1/11/11 8 Tens at 8

Local,  Director- Writer- Producer-Actor, Brian Spencer, came into the studio to talk about work.

Brian Spencer – back in the 80s when he moved here from SF. We began the conversation talking about his current work as Artistic Director for the 8 Tens at 8 at the Santa Cruz Actor’s Theatre at 1001 Center Street.  This is the 16th production of this unique and interesting short play festival and extravaganza.  Opening night was January 7th, 2011, running four weekends, beginning Thursday nights through Sunday, in a row at 8pm with matinees Saturday and Sunday.

Always a hit with audiences, the festival highlights the diverse talents of eight different playwrights and eight different directors and an acting company of some of the best actors in Santa Cruz.
