LOTUS MOON On May 28th, local dancer, artist, choreographer and yoga teacher, Revital Carroll came onto Artists On Art to talk about herinnovative dance performance, Lotus Moon by Shakti Bhakti Ensemble,

Shakti Bhakti was started by Revital dedicated to the exposition of classical Indian dance and eastern spiritual art.

The event took place at Louden Nelson Auditorium (301 Center St. Santa Cruz) on Saturday, May 31st, 2014 at 2 PM and 7 PM (two show times). A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Rising International, a local non-profit organization dedicated to supporting women and ending poverty.

Shakti Bhakti Ensemble dancers train under the guidance of Revital Carroll, an internationally acclaimed performer and teacher. All of Shakti Bhakti Ensemble dancers are not native to India but represent the multi-cultural demographics of the bay area. They share with you their journey to the ancient roots of Indian dance, and the perspective of a modern day temple-dancer.

“Lotus Moon” is a spellbinding presentation of traditional Odissi Dance. Merging innovative composition with original video presentations, the show delivers ancient art into the timeless present. A tribute to women worldwide, the choreography showcases the resilience, beauty and power of the feminine.
